Personal finance for the web, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch

Know what’s safe to spend.

Artha opens on one number: what’s safe to spend for the rest of the month, with the bills still to come already counted. It also shows what that comes to each day, and whether you’re on pace.

Free on the web. In beta on TestFlight for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch.

How Artha works

The answer comes first.

Can I afford this? Where did the money go? Each screen opens on the answer and keeps the spreadsheet out of sight. Everything pictured here is the real app.

Plan

A month that adds up before it starts.

Set one budget and Artha splits it into the bills you have to pay, everyday spending and what’s left. Every bill shows whether it’s paid yet, so the rent you haven’t paid still counts.

  • Bills paid and still to come, in one list
  • A charge from your bank pairs with the bill it pays, so it never counts twice
  • Limits per category, only where you want them
Artha's October plan on iPhone: a $4,000 budget split into $1,846 of bills with $252 still to come, $1,121 of everyday spending and $1,033 left to spend, above this month's bills, each marked paid or due. Activity

Search the way you’d ask.

Type a name, an amount or a date, or all three: 84.12, $1,200, last week, coffee march. Months work in German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Bengali and Hindi too, and a week starts on the day your phone says it does.

  • A refund takes the spending back off its purchase, even in another currency
  • Rules rename and file a merchant the same way every time
  • Swipe to delete, with Undo

Receipts and splits

One receipt, two budgets.

Split a Costco run between groceries and shopping, to the cent, and each part counts in its own budget. Attach the receipt photo; if you say yes, Artha reads it and suggests the split for you.

  • Photos are saved without their location or other details
  • Search finds a purchase by what was on its receipt, once it’s read
  • Nothing changes until you choose

Wealth

Everything you own, in the currency you hold it.

Add accounts in any of about 160 currencies and watch net worth over time. Savings in Dhaka stay in taka and a Berlin account stays in euros; the total is in yours.

  • Net worth over a month, three months, a year or all time
  • A balance you haven’t updated in a month is flagged, never guessed
Artha's Wealth on iPhone: $64,592 net worth, up $5,220 in the past three months, with $74,842 owned and $10,251 owed, and cash accounts including Chase Checking, Ally Savings and a savings account in Dhaka in taka. Apple Watch

Safe to spend, at the register.

Raise your wrist for what’s safe to spend, the month’s pace and the bills coming up. Add a cash purchase from a number pad, and put safe to spend, spent this month or net worth on your watch face.

  • Circular, corner, inline and rectangular complications
  • Signs in through your iPhone, nothing to type

Everywhere you check

One Artha, on every screen.

The apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch and the website run on one account, so a number never disagrees with itself. Widgets put safe to spend on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, and Siri can tell you it.

And the details

Down to the cent.

An assistant that asks first

Ask how a month went, or tell it about a purchase. It can suggest a change, and only your tap saves it.

Statements, checked by you

PDF, CSV, OFX, QFX or QIF, even a photo of paper. Rows already in Artha and transfers between your own accounts start unticked.

Apple Pay, logged for you

A shortcut adds each Apple Pay purchase as it happens, waiting for you to confirm it.

Bills that count once

The Netflix charge from your bank and the Netflix bill you track are paired into one. Unpair it any time.

Card payments aren’t spending

Paying off a card isn’t spending twice. Import the card’s statement and its payments stop counting.

A price that changed

A one-off charge doesn’t reset a bill. A new price sticks once you say so, or once it’s charged twice in a row.

Rules you write once

Rename a merchant, pick its category and account, split it by percent, or match one amount, like the $2.99 that’s iCloud.

A heads-up, if you want one

Turn it on and Artha tells you once, early in the month, if spending is running ahead of pace.

Wherever you live

About 160 currencies, statement dates in the main European languages, and weeks that start where you live.

Private by design

Your money is your business.

Artha keeps very little to begin with. It never connects to your bank, and nothing in it tracks you.

No ads, no analyticsNo tracking scripts run anywhere in Artha, on the web or in the apps.
Statements aren’t keptAn imported file is read once for you to review, and never stored.

Questions

What does Artha Pro cost?

Artha is free with no time limit: safe to spend, budgets, bills, accounts, receipts and statement files. Artha Pro adds the assistant, receipts and scans read for you, scenarios, reports beyond this month and Apple Wallet sync, for $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year in the US, after a one-month free trial. It isn’t on sale yet: during the beta everyone has it, and anyone who joins before it goes on sale keeps it free for good.

Does Artha connect to my bank?

No. You add spending yourself, from a statement you review, or from Apple Pay through a shortcut you set up. Artha never asks for a bank login.

How is “safe to spend” worked out?

Your monthly budget, minus what you’ve already spent and the bills still due before the month ends. Divided by the days left, that’s what you can spend each day. It’s only as good as what you’ve entered, so the bills list matters.

Does it work outside the US?

Yes, and people use it in several countries. A purchase keeps the currency it happened in, any of about 160, and totals convert to yours. Statements can have dates in the main European languages, search understands months in eight languages, and your week starts on the day your phone or computer says.

Is there an app?

Yes. Artha for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch is in beta on TestFlight, on the same account as the website. Join the beta.

Does the assistant learn from my data?

No. It runs on Anthropic’s API, which doesn’t train on customer data by default, and Artha never opts in. It can suggest changes, but only you can save them.

Is Artha financial advice?

No. It helps you see and plan your own money. For advice about investments, tax or debt, talk to a qualified professional.

Who makes Artha?
